Bank Holiday Monday and it’s fair to say that there has been a lot going on across all four of our divisions!
In the Pitching In Southern League Division One Central, Champions, Real Bedford, left it late to beat AFC Dunstable 3-1. They went ahead early in the second half through Ben Stevens only for it to be cancelled out by Sean Duodu and it stayed that way until late on when Anthony Agemoh-Davies and Joey Evans found the net.
Runners-up, Berkhamsted, had a 2-0 success against Aylesbury United thanks to first half goals from Max Rosner and Rayan Clarke, whilst they will be joined in the play-offs by Flackwell Heath who beat Beaconsfield Town 2-1 with two early goals from Wiktor Makowski doing the damage as Josh Marcon pulled one back for the visitors.
Also taking their place in the play-offs will be Barton Rovers after they won 4-0 at Biggleswade FC with two goals from Lucas Kirkpatrick and further strikes from Ashton Grant and Matt Moloney. Hadley are all but assured of completing the play-off line-up as Billy Hayes’ goal was enough to see them overcome the challenge of Welwyn Garden City.
It would take a big swing in goal difference for Thame United to topple them. They were without a game today.
There is one relegation place up for grabs and it’s between Leverstock Green and Kings Langley. A 2-0 victory for Leverstock Green over Stotfold has kept them alive after Dan Pett scored two quickfire goals in the opening exchanges of the second half. Meanwhile, in their final game of the season, Kings Langley won 3-2 at Northwood with a dramatic last-gasp Eduard Toiny-Pendred goal. A Darnell-Joe Luke opener set them on their way only for Emmanuel Folarin and Devonte Totesaut to turn the scoreline on its head. An equaliser from Lucas Pedrozo saw the momentum swing back in their favour as they nicked it at the death. Now they must wait and hope on the final day of the season as a draw or defeat for Leverstock Green will save them.
At the bottom, North Leigh secured only their second win of the season as they were 2-1 victors at Kidlington, for whom Felix Robertson put them ahead late in the opening period. However, a goal from Samuel Olawale levelled things up before Pelumi Maxwell won it in stoppage time for the visitors.
Elsewhere, Enfield also left it late to beat Hertford Town 2-1. Kieran Southgate put them ahead on the quarter-hour mark only for player-manager, Ben Herd, to level for the visitors. George Thompson popped up in the final minute to win it.
The spoils were shared between Ware and Leighton Town as Kyal Williams opened the scoring for the away team before Johnny Allotey levelled matters up as the clock ticked down.
