CLARIFICATION | STRATFORD TOWN v ALVECHURCH ABANDONED MATCH

The Southern Football league is aware of ongoing incorrect information in the press and on social media in connection with the order to replay the match Stratford Town v Alvechurch.

The match was abandoned 87 minutes after play had started at 3pm. This included a number of breaks in play for medical emergencies. The match referee has confirmed to The FA and The Southern Football league that the ball had been in play for 59 minutes and had the match re-started, there would have been a further 31 minutes to play, one third of the duration of a match.

Furthermore, the score and goal difference could have had an impact on who finished fifth and took the fourth place in the play-offs. The League had on option but to order the match to be replayed.
