Positive unbeaten start for Premier South new boys

Seven games into the Pitching In Southern League Premier South season and new-boys, Uxbridge, are yet to taste defeat.

Their hard-earned 2-1 victory over Berkhamsted on Tuesday evening was their second win of the season to go alongside five draws, which leaves them tucked just inside the top ten of the early League table.

“Tuesday was a tough game,” admitted summer signing, Liam Prior-Tack. “We had a lot of chances to make it a lot more comfortable than it was. I had a goal chalked off for offside, which would have been nice to add to the tally, but the main thing in the end was that we were able to see the game out to get the three points.

“To still remain unbeaten, particularly for a team coming up into this League for the first time, is extremely positive and something we’re proud of.

“We’re really looking forward to every game because it provides us with a new challenge each time.”

Prior-Tack was brought in during pre-season to added much-needed know-how of the level that the club were coming in to.

“I’ve played in this League over the last few seasons, so I know what it’s all about,” he added. “You’re getting more hybrid/full-time teams now, so the quality is always improving.

“It’s a very competitive League; every game is tough and every team is capable of beating each other. The club has embraced this and started brightly, so long may this continue.

“From a personal point of view, I have settled in really quickly. The set-up at the club is really professional both on and off the pitch; it’s a got a real family feel about the place.

“There’s plenty of quality throughout the group and we’re all fighting hard for places, which can only be a healthy thing as it helps to keep everyone on their toes and standards high.

“We’re looking to finish as high as possible. We’re currently in the top ten and it would be nice to stay there.

“I’d like to reach 15 goals for the season and generally play my part in helping us enjoy a positive and productive season.”

The next challenge comes a week on Saturday as they return to action with a trip to Tiverton Town.
