FARNHAM TOWN | HALCYON DAYS

Ogo Obi is certainly enjoying the start to the season

These are halcyon days for Farnham Town.

A 12-game start to the 2025/26 season in all competitions has seen them sit third in the Pitching In Southern League Premier South table as well as making it through to the fourth round qualifying of the Emirates FA Cup for the first-ever time where a mouth-watering home tie against Sutton United awaits, a tie that will be broadcast live on the BBC iPlayer and Red Button service.

They are also still involved in the Isuzu FA Trophy and face an emotional tie at Chichester City on Saturday as the hosts play their first game since the tragic passing of Billy Vigar.

With four goals to his name so far, Ogo Obi has been in good form and enjoyed every minute of the campaign so far.

“It’s been a solid start,” he told us. “I feel as though I am improving with each game and as a team, we have been working so hard.

“We’ve had some good results and made real progress, but we know that there’s a lot more to come from us and it’s exciting.”

Obi was amongst the scorers as Dorchester Town were swept aside in the Emirates FA Cup at the weekend.

“It was a great team performance,” he added. “Everyone put in a shift and stuck together. It was nice to score and play my part in creating history for the club.

“Being involved in the FA Cup means a lot; growing up it was one of those competitions that I always watched closely and to be able to play in it now makes me extremely proud. It’s special for us as players and for the fans too.

“Before we can think about Sutton United, we have Saturday’s FA Trophy tie to concentrate on and we’ll be looking to progress in this competition too.

“We’re enjoying every challenge that comes our way at the moment; we’re learning all of the time as things grow on and off the pitch.

“This is a good place to be. Hopefully for myself and the team, we can keep improving and creating special moments.”

Meanwhile in confirming that Saturday’s Isuzu FA Trophy tie will go ahead, Chichester City FC issued the following statement:

“Chichester City Football Club can confirm that our scheduled FA Trophy game against Farnham Town on Saturday 4th October will go ahead.

“Billy, his family, friends, team-mates, matchday staff and everyone associated with the club have been in our thoughts as we have considered this.

“As a group, we will return to the pitch together and honour Billy.

“We invite you to join us in paying tribute to Billy on the day. Billy Vigar - forever in our hearts.”

The thoughts of the Southern League remain with Billy’s friends, family and all at Chichester City FC and Wingate & Finchley FC.
