STOURBRIDGE | BACK IN THE GAME

It didn't take Scott Adey-Linforth long to get back in the game at a club that means so much to him

It’s been quite a journey for Scott Adey-Linforth. Back in 2013 as a raw teenager he volunteered his services to assist then Stourbridge manager, Gary Hackett, and his coaching staff.

Fast forward just over a decade later and now he has been installed as manager of the Pitching In Southern League Premier Central club.

His first game at the helm on Wednesday evening couldn’t have gone any better as the Glassboys inflicted Harborough Town’s first defeat of the season.

“It all happened very quickly,” he admitted. “One minute I was leaving Bromsgrove Sporting and the next I got a call from Stourbridge.

“It was a no-brainer. Opportunities to manage don’t come up all that often, particularly at a club that has a special place in my heart, so I jumped at the chance.

“I learned my trade here as a teenager and spent many happy years working behind-the-scenes at the club. I owe Stourbridge everything for the way they have helped to shape my career and I am so proud to return as manager.

“This is a really exciting challenge. First and foremost, I wouldn’t be here if I didn’t think it was possible to get the club moving in the right direction again.

“There’s still a lot of points to play for and it’s going to take plenty of hard work and effort by all concerned, but Wednesday’s performance and result shows exactly what we are capable of.

“Know the majority of people at the club already, this feels like a homecoming for me. There are some special people here, working tirelessly on behalf of the club and I am so pleased to be back here with them.

“With everyone working hard together and pulling in the same direction, we should fear no-one. Our first objective is to get out of the relegation zone and then we can look higher and take things from there.”

Former Stourbridge manager, Darryl Knights, has taken on the role of assistant manager, whilst Richard Batchelor has also returned to the club as part of the coaching staff.

A trip to a Bury Town is on the agenda for the new man at the helm on Saturday.
