There was plenty of drama across our four divisions on the final weekend of 2025.
In the Premier South, it was a particularly good day for Walton & Hersham as not only did they secure a 1-0 away win at Chertsey Town, but they also saw second-place Gloucester City go down 2-1 at Taunton Town in Gary Johnson’s first game at the helm. To make matters worse for City, they ended the game with just eight players.
Poole Town picked up a good 2-0 away win at Wimborne Town to strengthen their place in third position, whilst Farnham Town lost 2-0 at an improving Bracknell Town, where Jack Mazzone hit both goals. Making up the rest of the top five, Gosport Borough, suffered a heavy 4-0 home reverse at the hands of Havant & Waterlooville on Boxing Day.
Over in the Premier Central, Spalding United end the year three points clear at the top after they were commanding 3-0 victors over Stamford AFC. They are holding off the challenge of Harborough Town who beat Kettering Town 4-2.
Third-place Quorn had to settle for a point from a 2-2 draw at Barwell, whilst Needham Market battled out a hard-earned 1-0 win at Leiston as Seth Carroll-Chambers grabbed what proved to be the decisive goal in the final 15 minutes. Making up the rest of the top five are Redditch United who shared the spoils in a 1-1 local derby draw at Bromsgrove Sporting.
Top of Division One South are Frome Town who conceded two late goals to draw 3-3 at fifth-placed Shaftesbury. They are three points clear of Portishead Town who won 2-1 at bottom of the table, Tavistock AFC, thanks to a brace from Ethan Feltham.
Two teams sit level on 50 points. Winchester City were victorious 2-0 at Bashley, whilst Malvern Town were denied victory at Sporting Club Inkberrow when the hosts grabbed a leveller in stoppage time.
In Division One Central, leaders, Leighton Town, had to settle for a point from a 1-1 draw at MK Irish. Godlove Oppong netted an equaliser with 20 minutes to go. It means that they are eight points clear of Hitchin Town who scored a goal in each half to win 2-0 at Barton Rovers.
Biggleswade Town had a good 3-0 away triumph at Biggleswade FC as they killed the game off with three early goals. There was a heavy home defeat for Hertford Town as they went down 4-1 at the hands of Ware, who now sit in fifth place.
We’ll have reaction to the action during the course of the week ahead.
