A chilly start to 2026

It was a decidedly chilly start to the 2026 action with a number of games across our four divisions falling victim of the winter weather.

In the Premier South, leaders, Walton & Hersham march on following a 2-0 victory over Gosport Borough as Johl Powell bagged a brace. Behind them, Poole Town are now second following a commanding 7-0 success against Plymouth Parkway after Gloucester City came from two goals down to draw 2-2 at home to Evesham United.

Elsewhere, Tiverton Town made it two wins in a row as they beat local rivals, Taunton Town, in what was their first home game since mid-October.

Over in the Premier Central, Spalding United were able to increase their lead at the top courtesy of a convincing 3-0 triumph over Barwell as second-place Harborough Town saw their game at Banbury United postponed, one of seven across the division to fall at the hands of the elements.

Halesowen Town are up to fourth courtesy of a 3-1 victory over Bromsgrove Sporting, whilst Worcester City had a good 4-1 away win at Redditch United.

A last-gasp Jack Thorne goal saw Portishead Town hit top spot with a narrow 2-1 victory over Bashley as they took advantage of Frome Town being out of action.

Just behind them, a goal in each half saw Winchester City overcome the challenge of Didcot Town, whilst Malvern Town ran out deserved 4-1 winners against Hartpury and Bishops Cleeve leapfrogged Shaftesbury into fifth spot as they beat Sporting Club Inkberrow 4-1.

Only two games survived in Division One Central as Hitchin Town strengthened their position in second spot with a 3-2 victory over Stotfold and Biggleswade FC move up into fifth place with a good 1-0 win at Ware thanks to Dan Bond’s goal with 20 minutes to go.
