Kieran Phillips has returned to Gloucester City revitalised and firing on all cylinders following a successful spell out on loan.
Moving to Pitching In Southern League Division One South outfit, Larkhall Athletic, in mid-November, Phillips went on to hit eight goals from seven games.
“I needed to get out on loan to build up my fitness levels and get regular games under my belt,” he admitted. “I was able to do that at Larkhall, for which I am really grateful. I thoroughly enjoyed my time at the club and the move benefitted all involved.
“Now I am determined to play my part at Gloucester between now and the end of the season.”
Phillips was amongst the scorers on Saturday as Gloucester City returned to winning ways with a 3-1 victory over Tiverton Town.
“It felt good to get on the scoresheet,” he added. “I started the game at right wing-back; I was pleased with the way in which I took to the position and then was pushed further up the pitch as the game went on.
“I was happy with my performance and happy to help the team. We needed that victory to get us going again and now we’re looking forward to heading to Walton & Hersham on Tuesday evening.
“It’s a massive game; they are top but have lost their last two games, so they’ll be looking to end that particular run, whilst we’ll be looking to ensure that they don’t further extend their lead over us and kick-on from Saturday, so it’s three big points up for grabs for both teams.
“We’ll go there and give everything we’ve got, as we always do, and see where it takes us.”
Sitting third in the table going into the game, Gloucester are ten points adrift of their hosts following a run of three Premier South games without a win prior to the weekend.
Meanwhile Phillips, along with team-mate, Ed Williams, will be heading up the popular City Soccer Camps, which return for the forthcoming February half-term.
Youngsters between the ages of five and 12, of all abilities, are able to attend, taking to the KMM Energy Stadium pitch alongside their City heroes in what is a fun and positive environment.
“On the back of the success of the summer camps, it’s great to be doing this again,” Phillips continued. “It’s nice to see so many young players enjoying themselves, learning new skills, and, most importantly, smiling throughout the sessions.
“Being able to engage with the next generation of fans and players is always rewarding. Their energy and excitement remind us why we love the game so much. Hopefully we can inspire a few of them to keep playing and stay connected with the club.”
Tuesday's game will be streamed live on Clubber TV.
