The wet weather relented just a little bit at the weekend but it was certainly raining goals at Sporting Club Inkberrow.
There were ten of them in their Pitching In Southern League Division One South encounter with Didcot Town as they ran out 6-4 winners.
Aidan Clark, who moved up from Step 5 at the turn of the year, opened the scoring for the home side with just eight minutes on the clock as he went on to bag four in total on a crazy afternoon in Worcestershire.
“It’s been a while since I last scored four in a game,” Clark told us. “It must be about three or four seasons ago now, so it was nice to be able to do it again at this level.
“By our own standards, we were poor in the first half. We took the lead but then fell behind and went in at the break trailing 3-1, which was really disappointing.
“But we were able to regroup during the interval and after the break we were much closer to where we want to be in terms of our individual and collective performance levels.
“The boys dominated a lot of duals and we were able to get into good areas to create chances, which thankfully we were able to take.
“After a couple of defeats and a couple of postponements recently, it was nice to be back out there and into winning ways again.
“I only arrived at the club at the beginning of January, but it’s clear for me to see already that this is a club that is moving in the right direction and who try to do things correctly.
“We’ve been unlucky in the games that we’ve lost, so hopefully we can kick-on from here now and add to our points tally.
“There’s no reason why we can’t keep the form going and build some momentum. There are some good teams in this League and no easy games, but we have the quality to be able to compete with everything that comes our way.
“The aim is to finish the season as strongly as possible, both personally and from a team point of view.
“I want to add to my goals tally and show what I am capable of at Step 4.”
A home game against Westbury United takes place on Tuesday evening before they head to play-off chasing Shaftesbury at the weekend.
