With the club rooted to the foot of the Pitching In Southern League Division One South table, long-serving manager, Stuart Henderson, has this week departed Tavistock AFC after a decade at the helm.
During that time, he has guided the club from Step 6 to Step 4, where they are currently in their fourth successive season.
But the current campaign has been tough with just three wins from their 26 League outings.
“Spending ten years at the club has been a period of dedicated service, hard work and shared achievement,” said Henderson. “During this time the club has made significant progress; from competing at Step 6 to ultimately achieving Southern League status at Step 4, where the club has competed for four consecutive seasons.
“There have been so many memorable moments over the past decade, but this season has been particularly challenging. Competing at this level bring significant financial demands and following the departure of several established players during the summer, we have also faced the challenge of attracting and retaining the calibre of player required at this level.
“Despite this, I remain proud of the effort of the players and staff throughout. Stepping away has not been an easy decision, but I believe that it is the right time for both the club and myself to move forward in different directions.
“I would like to place on record my sincere thanks to everyone connected to the club. Non-League football relies on committed people and I have been fortunate to work alongside many dedicated individuals over the past decade.
“It has been a privilege to manage this football club. I leave with respect for the club and gratitude for the support shown to me during my time here. I wish the club nothing but success in the future.”
A trip to Didcot Town is on the agenda for this weekend as the club assesses their next move.
