As February comes to a close, there was plenty of drama across our four divisions.
In the Premier South, leaders, Walton & Hersham, ran out 3-1 victors over Yate Town as they remain in pole position. Behind them, it was Gloucester City who won the battle of second against third as they went to Poole Town and came home as 2-1 winners.
Fourth-placed Farnham Town battled out a 2-1 victory at Weymouth, whilst Sholing remain in the final play-off spot after beating Taunton Town 4-2 to leave them ahead of Gosport Borough, who had a commanding 3-0 away win at Basingstoke Town.
Over in the Premier Central, the top two both had 3-0 wins. Spalding United beat Redditch United thanks to three first half goals, whilst Harborough Town were deserved victors over Barwell.
Real Bedford’s home encounter with Leiston was postponed as Quorn came from behind to enjoy a 4-1 success at St. Ives Town. With Redditch United defeated, Halesowen Town were unable to take advantage as they lost 1-0 at Bishop’s Stortford.
In Division One South, Frome Town march on at the top as they breezed past Bideford AFC by four goals to nil. In second-place, Malvern Town secured a 3-1 triumph over Falmouth Town, including a brace for Harry Clark on his 250th appearance for the club.
Remaining hot on their heels, Portishead Town came from behind to beat Melksham Town 2-1, whilst a late goal saw Winchester City edge past Mousehole AFC 3-2. The final play-off spot is with Shaftesbury who beat Sporting Club Inkberrow 3-0, to leave them ahead of Bishops Cleeve who were held at Bristol Manor Farm.
Division One Central saw leaders, Leighton Town, battle out a 2-1 win at Hadley as second-placed Hitchin Town were 5-1 winners over Beaconsfield Town. In third place, Biggleswade Town were made to work hard to earn their 2-1 triumph at lowly Rayners Lane, as Biggleswade FC stay level on points with them thanks to Ryan Gray’s goal which proved the difference against in-form Leverstock Green.
The final play-off place is currently held by Hertford Town who went to bottom of the table, AFC Dunstable, and returned home with a 6-0 success.
