It’s the joy of six for Hertford Town.
The Pitching In Southern League Division One Central club have done their play-off hopes the power of good by scoring six goals in successive games for the first time almost 20 years.
They followed up their 6-2 home victory over Barton Rovers with a 6-0 away win at bottom club, AFC Dunstable, at the weekend.
Helping himself to two of the goals on Saturday was Jesus Mendoza.
“It was good to be able to contribute with a couple of goals at the weekend,” he told his club’s media. “I know that I should have had more goals to my name this season, but hopefully more will follow now for me.
“I am trying to help the team as much as I can. We’ve worked hard to put ourselves into a good position just inside the top five.
“We’ve dropped some points that we shouldn’t have recently but with 12 games to go, we’re looking forward to what the run-in holds in store.
“We’ll take things a game at a time and not get too far ahead of ourselves. 12 goals in two games will do our confidence the power of good and we’re ready to face the next challenge that comes our way.”
Saturday’s results saw them open up a four-point gap over Thame United who sit just outside the play-off places and the two teams meet in what is a mouth-watering encounter on Tuesday evening.
Their goalscoring exploits have also put them level with leaders, Leighton Town, as Division One Central’s leading scorers with 78 goals to their name from 31 League matches.
