FALMOUTH TOWN | MASSEY ATTACK

Division One South club looking for home comforts to secure their status

It’s been a demanding schedule of games in recent weeks for Falmouth Town, but Thursday-Saturday victories last week have put them on the verge of confirming their Pitching In Southern League Division One South status for another season.

A 2-0 home victory over Brixham AFC was followed quickly a 3-1 away triumph at Sporting Club Inkberrow as Oscar Massey weighed in with three goals across the two games.

“The last two results have been massive for us,” Massey told us. “We went into both games knowing the importance of them for what we needed to achieve and we have been able to deliver.

“It’s been a real team performance on both occasions with everyone playing their part and working hard for each other.

“We’ve put in a proper shift and got our reward with six points, whilst on a personal note, it’s obviously been pleasing to contribute goals and assists to help us achieve the victories.

“We’re looking forward to the final three games now. They’re all at home and our fate is in our own hands, so it’s a chance for us to end the season strongly,. That said, we know that each game will be tough, as they all are in this League.

“We’ve built some good momentum over the last couple of games and we want that to continue.

“Looking at the season as a whole, It’s been one of ups and downs, but as a group we’ve stuck together and still believe we can achieve our goals.

“For me, moving back to Falmouth has done me the world of good. I’m enjoying my football again and contributing with goals.

“As I say, this League has been very competitive again this season; there are a lot of strong teams and talented players involved.

“It’s unpredictable every weekend, which makes it even more challenging and exciting.”

A home game against play-off chasing Bishops Cleeve awaits on Saturday before they welcome Sporting Club Inkberrow on Tuesday and then round the campaign off at home to Melksham Town.
