Andy Peaks was pleased with what he saw from his players as AFC Rushden & Diamonds made it back-to-back wins with a 3-0 success over Lowestoft Town at Hayden Road.
The damage was done in the second half after a goalless opening period as Nabil Shariff broke the deadlock on the hour mark. Diamonds didn’t look back after that with Jordan Macleod doubling the advantage before Matthew Slinn rounded things off.
The victory saw Diamonds move back up to sixth place in the BetVictor Southern League Premier Central. And, with a clean sheet thrown in, it all added up to make Peaks a very satisfied manager.
“I was really pleased with the performance from start to finish, we took our goals well and we defended much better than in recent games so the clean sheet was just as important as the three points.
“We had to be patient and the first goal was always going to be crucial. “It wasn’t easy because the conditions made it difficult to pass the ball well.
“But, overall, it was a really good performance throughout the whole team. “We wanted back-to-back wins and six points from two games really change the complexion of the league table and we can see that for ourselves now.
