North Leigh travelled to Aylesbury in the Preliminary round of the FA Cup. The competition final takes place in nine months, but the most famous domestic cup competition in the world was in town.

Three changes were made; Eddie Cavanagh started in goal, Aaron Woodley and Josh Dutton-Black back in the starting 11. With temperature nudging 30°C it was a tough afternoon for the players.

The first quarter of the game was even, but after a drinks break, the Millers made the breakthrough. Lance Williams’ flick header was dinked over the home defence for Tyriq Hunte to lob the keeper. The lead didn’t last long, Cavanagh saving the first Aylesbury shot well, but helpless for the rebound as Keith Mupfururirwa scored. Harry Scott then clipped a free kick straight into the net with 45 mins on the clock. Woodley headed home from a corner for 2-2 deep in stoppage time, salvaging the first half for the Millers.

10 minutes into the second half and the goals really got going. Jonny Montgomery drove forward for the Dynamos, slipped the ball to Alfi Touceda who smashed home from 25 yards, 3-2. On 65 mins, Hunte controlled well, turned and shot into the bottom corner, 3-3. With 18mins left, Mupfururirwa was played in, battled past the last defender, then chipped the approaching Cavanagh, 4-3. With 90 mins up, George Seacole latched onto a through ball, slipping it under James Weatherill, 4-4. Deep into added time and in controversial circumstances, Kynan Isaac took a quick throw-in to Hunte who curled home from the edge of the box, 4-5.

Nine goals in the match and North Leigh progress into the First Qualifying round.

There was still time for Hunte to have a penalty well saved by the home keeper but that was that. Nine goals in the match and North Leigh progress into the First Qualifying round.
