Showed our mettle

Two hat tricks and points shared

MARK Molesley called for his Weymouth team to show their mettle in the aftermath of their 4-4 draw with the Metropolitan Police in the Evo-Stik Southern Premier South.

Brandon Goodship and Luke Robertson both scored hat-tricks, with the latter firing in late on to hold Weymouth to a single point.

Weymouth led a remarkable four times throughout the contest, including in the 86th minute after Cameron Murray seemingly won it for them, yet time and time again they were pegged back by the Police.

When asked what he said to his squad after the match, Molesley replied: “It is difficult, because we are hurting. It has ended in disappointment so we are obviously gutted.

“The good thing is we know we can fix that, we can get that right. The boys showed that they have got resolve, they can do that.

“But we have come away, it was an entertaining game, end to end there was plenty of chances and we have got to defend better.”

“There is no question about it, we have got to improve on that and I am looking for the lads now to show their mettle, show that they want to improve and they want to get better and go and show that resilience to bounce back from some of the negatives.”
