Determination

Have to dig in - Liam McDonald

PICS’ boss, Liam McDonald, has spoken of his determination to turn our fortunes around after Monday’s 1-1 draw with Barwell made it eight League games without a win.
“It’s frustrating because we’re not achieving what we want to achieve, particularly as we went into the campaign on the crest of a wave following the run we had in the second half of last season,” he said. “Saturday’s defeat at the hands of Redditch United pretty much summed up our season so far. We started the game well only to concede a sloppy goal but we managed to get ourselves back in it with an equaliser only for a refereeing decision to set us back again.
“I understand the frustrations of the supporters. As a club we have to stick together; it’s about being brave and getting that bit of luck that will galvanise us.
“The players are good footballers but confidence is such a big thing in football and we are lacking it at the moment.
“We have to dig in and show the fighting spirit that served us so well this time last year. It’s all well and good talking about it, but now is the time for us to go out there and do it.
“Against Barwell, on Monday evening it looked like being our day, especially after they were reduced to ten men early on, but we got caught out when one of our players had to leave the field to sort out his contact lenses and all of a sudden the scores are level.
“That’s what happens when things are not going your way. There is no doubt that we were the better side; I’d say that we dominated about 80% of the game but when confidence is low, the end product is not what you know it can be.
