Post Match Interview
Andy Peaks hailed a “fantastic win” after AFC Rushden & Diamonds edged out King’s Lynn Town 1-0 at Hayden Road.
Tom Lorraine’s first-half goal, his 20th in all competitions this season, proved decisive as Diamonds maintained their push for a play-off place in the Evo-Stik League South Premier Division Central.
But it was an excellent defensive display in the second period that ultimately sealed the deal as Peaks’ team remained disciplined as the Linnets dominated possession.
Andy Peaks
'Delighted to see his team deliver on his request to seal a victory over one of the “big hitters in the division”.
“It’s a fantastic win against one of the big hitters if you like, that’s what I have been wanting to do,”
“Defensively we were absolutely superb and I thought we looked a threat.
“Tactically, I thought we got it spot on and the back four were excellent, which they needed to be. I don’t think (goalkeeper) Ben Heath had a save to make in the second half.
We made some good blocks but that’s what I expect.
“Each win is a big one for us at this stage of the season and that one is obviously important because it closes the gap between us and them.
