Double blow for Dorchester Town

Spectacular strike sealed the match.

Callum Brooks was left disappointed by the Magpies’ performance as his side’s FA Cup trail ended at Gang Warily.

Dorchester was sunk by a spectacular Charlie Gunson strike 11 minutes from time as Blackfield & Langley send the Magpies crashing out at the second qualifying round stage. To add to the county town side’s woes loanee Jack Hoey suffered a broken arm in the clash.

Brooks said: “I don’t think there was anything major we could look back on and say we were really unlucky. “I thought the overall picture was that we weren’t good enough when it mattered.

“We felt a couple of weeks ago in the league when we came up here we had to give a very good account of ourselves and we left something behind and again we leave with a real frustration” Brooks did not want to use the spate of injuries to the playing staff or the loss of Hoey a third of the way through the match as an excuse for his side’s defeat.

He said: “We’ve been unfortunate with things like that this season. Half an hour in you lose Jack. It’s a broken arm. “Again it’s poor luck and to be honest up until the goal it was a nothing game.

“I thought it was two sides not playing very well, to be honest. “It was a very bitty, stretched out the game of football lacking real quality.

“You’re looking for people to step up and grab the game by the scruff of the neck and scrappy as it was we were away from home and 10 minutes from getting a replay, taking it back to our place with a better surface and have a chance of winning.

“But when you go and give them a goal as we did, it’s going to be difficult. It was poor game management. “In fact at a crucial moment, we have mismanaged a game of football and paid the ultimate price. Shane threw it out and Charlie’s got caught in possession and we’ve gifted them a goal.
