Dorch grab a crucial point

Fightback earns reward

The Magpies manager Callum Brooks admitted he was satisfied with a “crucial point” courtesy of a 2-2 draw away at Farnborough in the Evo-Stik Southern Premier South.

Brooks’ men fell behind to a seventh-minute Perry Coles goal but staged a rapid fightback as Ben Seymour and Tom Blair goals built a 2-1 half-time lead.

Coles equalised in the 55th minute and Boro centre-back Rob Bartley was sent off but the Magpies could not find a winner despite a late half-chance for Billy Lowes as Farnborough held out for a point.

Speaking to Echosport, Brooks conceded Farnborough presented a “unique” challenge and were not an “easy” side despite having a total of 38 minutes to play against their 10 men.

He said: “It’s a good point on the road and it’s certainly a point we would have taken before the game, that’s for sure.

“I feel Farnborough are quite unique in what they do with how direct they are. They’re not an easy side to play against.

“Obviously if you look back to the result when we played them at home a couple of weeks ago, they turned us over heavy.

“So, I think a point, with a positive performance, is a good result. It’s something to build on.”

Asked what pleased him most about the Magpies’ performance, Brooks said: “Our lads were full of energy, character and very, very brave because they had to dig deep and defend their box.
