Rushall Olympic came home from Redditch United with a commanding 3-0 away win.
We came out of the blocks with real purpose and within an opening couple of minutes, Danny Waldron saw an effort saved by a good save. The opening goal wasn’t long in arriving as a sixth-minute corner from Alex Moore was headed in powerfully by Mitch Clarke.
As we maintain the pressure on the struggling home side, it was 2-0 on 13 minutes when another Moore corner picked out the head of Waldron. Boosted by the signing of Chris Wreh is the build-up to the game, he went close to a debut goal on the quarter-hour mark when his strike hit the underside of the crossbar and somehow stayed out, then Danny O’Callaghan went close with a header and a powerfully drive in quick succession.
The home side was finding it difficult to get into their stride against a rampant Pics and Wreh saw an effort cleared off the line before he finally got his name on the scoresheet as half-time approached when he linked up well with Jonathan Letford.
Right on the stroke of half-time, O’Callaghan’s effort was well cleared off the line as we went in at the break holding a three-goal advantage.
The second period started in a similar vein with The Pics asking all the questions. The home side created a couple of half-chances around the hour-mark which were comfortably dealt with.
A fine save denied Waldron after he linked up well with Wreh and then Waldron saw a strike hit the underside of the bar as we looked to add to our lead.
Both ‘keepers made good saves in the closing stages as The Pics secured a deserved victory on the road.
