King's Lynn Town set out on the FA Cup trail on Saturday when they host perennial giant-killers Histon in the first qualifying round at The Walks.
Each winning club from the First Qualifying Round will receive £6,000 from The FA prize fund and the Linnets will look at it as an ideal opportunity to get their season back on track.
Linnets boss Simon Clark said: "As a football club, we want to do well in the FA Cup, as do all clubs.
"Histon are from a lower league and all FA Cup matches are difficult.
"They will love coming here. They will see that we are on a poor run at the minute and look at ways of beating us.
"We just have to make sure we control what we do and get things right."
Reflecting on a tough couple of weeks on the field, where Lynn has failed to score for more than 300 minutes, Clark said: "The longer we go without hitting the back of the net, the harder it gets.
"We are not performing to a level where we should be at the minute and that's down to my staff and myself.
"The fans are not onside with us at the minute and I fully understand that, but it's not through a lack of effort."
It was exactly a decade ago this season that Histon FC were riding the crest of a wave – knocking Leeds out of the FA Cup and coming within a whisker of reaching the Football League.
Since then it has been tough with four relegations dumping them back in the Eastern Counties League, where they had last played at the turn of the century.
The Thurlow Nunn Premier Division high-flyers defeated Eynesbury Rovers to reach this stage and remain unbeaten in the league after winning their opening four matches of the campaign.
Among their squad are former Linnets Pat Bexfield and Lee Smith while a number of Mildenhall Town players, who defeated Lynn in the FA Trophy last season, are also in the Stutes’ squad.
