Gosport Borough head into their Southern League premier division south clash at Tiverton Town in buoyant mood. Craig McAllister’s outfit delivered a shock victory at title-chasing Weymouth on Tuesday.
Few gave Borough a chance after falling to a lacklustre 4-1 defeat to Dorchester three days earlier. But the Privett Park outfit was much improved against the Terras and ran out thoroughly-deserved 3-1 winners. McAllister knows his side must maintain their standards if they are to repeat their success at Tiverton.
Gosport have the added incentive of knowing a win will see them leapfrog their 10th-placed hosts. ‘The win at Weymouth epitomised what the team can do,’ said McAllister. ‘There was lots of heart and passion. We went for every single tackle and fought for everything.
