Glassboys handed double injury boost

Stourbridge v Kettering Town

STOURBRIDGE will be handed a double injury boost ahead of this Saturday's top-of-the-table clash with Kettering Town.

Goalkeeper James Wren and winger Callum Powell are both back in contention ahead of the game at the War Memorial Ground (3pm kick-off).

Leaders Glassboys will face second-placed Kettering with only a point between the two Southern League Central pacesetters.

The gap was cut last weekend as Stour saw their 13-game winning run ended at Hitchin. They fell to a 2-1 loss despite Luke Benbow's opener.

Manager Gary Hackett says the defeat adds pressure to his side ahead of the contest but called for a big reaction.

"I think the lads have been very consistent and it's been a really good run," he said.

"It has to end somewhere and all you can do is react to that and look to go again.

"You get out what you put in and we didn't deserve anything from the Hitchin game.

"I said I'll give the players the benefit of the doubt because they have been brilliant recently.

"You're never just going to keep winning and winning. Eventually, you'll slip up so you can't dwell on that.

"It would've been nice to carry our momentum into a really big game this weekend but all it means is that there is probably a little bit of added pressure on us now.

"We have to deal with that and thrive under it.

"It's a game we're really looking forward to.

"It would be naive of us or Kettering to just assume it's only between the two of us because it doesn't take much for someone to come out of the chasing pack. But at the moment we're the two sides at the top and it's a big chance for us this weekend.

"We've proved time and time again what we are capable off and now we have to go and show that on the big occasion.

"We should have a big crowd coming to support us so it hopefully we can do ourselves a massive favour for the rest of the season."
