With Alvechurch`s game against Leiston postponed, it left just two matches in the Evo-Stik Southern League Premier Division Central on a cold and snowy Tuesday night.
With leaders Kettering Town and second-placed Stourbridge holding a commanding lead at the top, it seems to be all about hanging on in there for the chasing pack and maybe hoping one of the title-contenders has a severe blip in form.
King`s Lynn Town ensured they are one of the teams in waiting after inflicting a 4-2 defeat on mid-table Royston Town at The Walks.
It`s now just one win in nine league games for the Crows, who were in top five contention themselves before Christmas.
However, it was the visitors who took the lead in the 22nd minute when Joe Neal was brought down by home `keeper Alex Street and Rohdell Gordon converted the resulting penalty.
But just 4 minutes later, Adam Marriott finished off a Michael Clunan cross to record his 14th goal of the season to date.
Five minutes later and Lynn were in front when Ryan Fryatt headed in a Clunan corner.
Six minutes later though, Royston were back on level terms when Neal successfully lobbed over Street from 25 yards.
The hosts did go into the break in front though when Michael Gash fired home to make it 3-2 in the 40th minute.
As often happens after a half like that, as conditions worsened, goal opportunities became fewer, although Lynn did wrap up the points with a fourth goal in the 85th minute, courtesy of an own goal from Dan Brathwaite.
Needham Market and Biggleswade Town were two other sides looking to get into the play-off challenge when they met at Bloomfields.
And it saw the Marketmen move into seventh, a place and a point behind the Waders, after earning a last-gasp 1-0 win.
Several of the frozen crowd had left when the deadlock was finally broken 4 minutes into stoppage time at the end of the game.
A corner was headed back into the mix and Jamie Griffiths poked the ball past the visiting keeper.
After the goal, Waders` Jack Bradshaw was shown a red card for `disputing` the legitimacy of the goal!
