Dorchester Town ready 'TOGETHER'

Featured Match - Preview

Dorchester Town v Yate Town

Yate visit us this afternoon in a rich vein of form which continued on Wednesday evening as they beat the league leaders 0-2 away from home, in my opinion this sums up what this league is about at the moment, it is very similar to the Championship in that anyone can beat anyone and therefore its very difficult to predict. That also means that it is extremely tight and a few wins on the bounce can not only change the whole feel around a club but also the league position, which Yate have found out recently.

My point is that one game at a time we are looking to do exactly the same thing, I do not want to talk about winning runs when we are in a position of very much needing to win a game first of all. But all winning runs have to start somewhere and our sole aim is to make our start this afternoon.

The fact that the league is so tight, added to the fact that we have three games across different cups in the coming weeks means that there is so much to play for at the moment. With this in mind I urge us all to stick together, we are far more powerful as a united force. I repeated this message throughout the remaining ten games last season and between us we found the required energy surge to improve our situation, why not do it again.

Without a huge pot of money, nothing has ever been achieved overnight and even then it's difficult. I also understand that we are all hurting and disappointed that we have not found ourselves in a better position during these early stages of the season, and no one feels that more than myself. I wouldn’t recommend spending time with me after a defeat or in recent weeks to be honest and my family will vouch for that. I also understand and agree that the performance at Weston should be met with criticism, I criticized it heavily myself, however, if dreadful performances and perceived lack of fight are met with criticism then its only right that performances full of effort, fight and desire should equally be met with some positivity towards the players. Was Tuesday night’s performance perfect? Far from it but keeping a clean sheet after conceding six showed some character. Do we need to demonstrate more quality to get over the line in matches? Absolutely and the work towards that continues. The work to improve all areas is constantly taking place and solutions to our issues are being pursued constantly, this will not always be evident immediately but we are starting to work from a better base all of the time. I look forward to enjoying the well-deserved rewards with you as I can assure you that better times are coming. We will be having our time, TOGETHER.
