Thatcham Town extended their lead at the top of the BetVictor Southern League Division One South table to four points after they edged a seven-goal thriller at home to Moneyfields and Frome Town suffered a 2-1 defeat at lowly Bideford AFC.

A lively affair at Waterside Park saw Kyle Tooze put the Kingfishers in frt=ont after just 3 minutes. However, Moneys threatened a surprise as they raced into a 3-1 lead with goals from Sam Pearce after 41 minutes, Steve Hutchings just after the break and Lerone Plummer on 64 minutes. Matt Partridge pulled one back for Thatcham on 64 minutes and Adam Kelly reduced the deficit to one after 74 minutes and then came a dramatic final 10 minutes which began with Thatcham being awarded a penalty.

But Matt Day’s strike was blocked by `keeper Max Flintoff. Two minutes later, Tooze made it 4-3 to the hosts but 3 minutes after that, was shown to quick yellow cards to reduce Thatcham to ten-men for the final 5 minutes plus stoppage time!
