Big Clash at Steel Park

Star Match Preview - Division 1 Central

Corby Town v Halesowen Town

Saturday`s fixtures in the BetVictor Southern Division One Central sees a huge game between leaders Corby Town against third-placed Halesowen Town at Steel Park. The Yeltz are 6 points behind the Steelmen but have four games in hand.

Paul Smith`s side will also be buoyed by their terrific FA Trophy replay win at National League side Maidenhead United which earns them a last 16 tie against another team from the top of the non-League Pyramid, FC Halifax Town.

A big crowd is expected at Steel Park where the hosts will be trying to inflict a first away defeat on Halesowen, who have won seven and drawn two of their nine away matches to date.

Corby Town – Preview
Corby Town suffered a shock 2-1 defeat away to Barton Rovers last time out. The pitch had a great effect on the way in which the game was played, cutting up severely in the earlier stages of the game. Corby started the game on the backfoot- Barton had some strong chances in the first half. Halesowen comes into this clash defending an unbeaten away record in the league of 7 wins and 2 draws this campaign. Both defeats this season have come at home and they are currently on a 17-match unbeaten run in all competitions.

Halesowen Town – Preview
The game comes just four days after Halesowen’s memorable victory over National League side Maidenhead in the FA Trophy, but manager Paul Smith insists the players are ready and focused to return to league action.
“All the players are driven and understand the enormity of the game,” he said. “The Maidenhead result was a huge achievement, and they enjoyed themselves Tuesday night, but it’s all about Corby now.
“We are the league’s in-form team and success breeds success. You gain momentum with wins and momentum is such a big thing in football, so the cup result can only help us on Saturday.”

Hard to believe, that the Current Form Book suggests the Steelmen are underdogs in their own back yard. The players will be very focussed on both sides, and both managers will need to make sure that holds till the final whistle.

Mistakes can prove costly with the pressure of seeking to secure three valuable points
