Third-bottom St Neots Town welcome neighbours Biggleswade FC to The Premier Plus Stadium on Saturday.
The clubs shared a 0-0 draw back in October but since then, the Saints have picked up some useful results under new manager Barry Corr until being beaten 3-1 at home by Corby Town on Tuesday – a result that took the Steelmen back to the top of the table.
Biggleswade, promoted from the Spartan South Midlands League at the end of last season, have settled into Step 4 reasonably well and currently sit in 13th place. They completed back-to-back wins last weekend by beating Kidlington 2-1 at Langford Road.
St Neots Town Fc - Barry Corr reflects performance against Corby Town
“I was really looking forward to it as I wanted to see what a top of the table team would look like at this level,” said Corr, who was appointed manager last month following a link-up with Cambridge United.“They were better than us for sure. They’re obviously more experienced than us but they did the basics right. They showed a little bit more aggression but we kept at it, and that was pleasing. “There’s no doubt they were the better side on the night, but there’s something for us to build on. It was a good marker for us. We were given a bit of a lesson but we showed improvements, so I’m not too downhearted.
“They play at the levels we want to get to, and we will see an improvement in the coming weeks. The more time we have together as a team the better we will get.
Biggleswade FC Manager – Dave Northfield
We have been looking forward to this game for weeks it's massive for us as we want to break into the top half of the league. We didn’t serve up much of a treat in the first encounter at our place however at that time we were both struggling for form, this should be different we have rid ourselves of the injury problems that hindered us for months and St Neots with their link-up with Cambridge United are now a completely different proposition altogether. We watched them in the week and they have made the league leaders really dig deep to take three points.
