Star Match - Premier Central

Coalville Town moved back into the top five after beating fellow contenders AFC Rushden & Diamonds at home. However, Diamonds will be kicking themselves as, following a disappointing opening period, Coalville took a 58th minute lead with a Kairo Mitchell effort from close range. But on 69 minutes, Diamonds were awarded a penalty when Ravens` keeper Saul Deeney was penalised for a rash challenge on Tom Lorraine. Deeney made amends though by saving Nabil Shariff’s spot-kick. And it went from bad to worse for Andy Peaks` side when Jesse Akubuine was sent-off for two quickfire yellow cards.

Andy Peaks - AFC Rushden & Diamonds

“It’s a very disappointing result because we wanted to get something out of it and we are frustrated because we should have come away with something, we dominated most of the game a team who usually create a lot of chances but they created very little and we have conceded a sloppy goal. “Then their goalkeeper has made a couple of decent saves and we have missed a penalty so to come away with nothing is a tough one to take.
