Five Games Without a Win Now for Taunton

Taunton Town missed the opportunity to move back into the top five in the BetVictor Southern League Premier Division South on Wednesday night after a comprehensive 4-0 win for mid-table Farnborough stretched the Peacocks run without a win to five games.

>1R> The home side had a great start at the Rushmoor Community Stadium when much-travelled striker Rene Howe put them in front after just 3 minutes.

Boro`s lead was doubled on 34 minutes when the Peacocks` Jamie Price turned a cross past his own keeper Lloyd Irish from close range.

And Taunton`s hopes of a victory looked virtually gone when the hosts were awarded a penalty a minute before half-time

Price was penalised as he fouled Reggie Young and David Fitzpatrick sent Irish the wrong way from the spot.

The second half was all about game management for Spencer Day`s side and Taunton had plenty of the ball but any time they did get through a stubborn defence, their keeper Liam Beach was on hand to thwart the Somerset forwards.

The result was put to bed just past the hour-mark when Bernard Tanner got on the end of a free-kick to beat Irish and make it 4-0.
