Stuart Agrees Coleshill Deal

Manager stays on.

Southern League Division One Central club Coleshill Town have announced that manager Cameron Stuart has agreed another twelve-month contract.

The club are busy changing its structure and are excited with the prospect of a new season – whenever that starts.

Stuart was appointed manager in the summer of 2017.

The previous campaign had been one of the best in the club's history to date.

In November 2016, manager Paul Casey left to take charge of higher-level Hednesford Town and his assistant Simon Lyons took charge and masterminded an incredible winning streak that took Coleshill to runners-up in the Midland Alliance for the second time in four years, but the highlight was the run in the FA Vase that finally came to an end just one step from Wembley at the hands of odds-on favourites South Shields.

However, when the season came to a close, chairman Paul Billing released Lyons.

Several of the squad moved on and Stuart was installed as the new manager.

Stuart started out at York City before moving to Aston Villa for £50,000 as a 17-year old.

An injury cut short his professional career and after a brief stint at Atherstone Town, the talented left-back joined Coalville Town.

He went on to score 80 times in 259 appearances for the Ravens and was club captain in 2012.

Stuart signed for Belper Town in early December 2013 but the lure of a player-coach role at Coalville was an offer he couldn’t turn down and he returned to Owen Street a month later.

In February 2015, Stuart moved to Chasetown to become assistant manager to Dave Stringer and it when the latter stepped down in May 2017, Stuart left with him, subsequently taking the role at Coleshill.

In Stuart`s first season in charge, Coleshill finished second again, but this time the club gained promotion to the Southern League where they ended up in ninth in 2018/19 and were 14th at the time of lockdown.
