Wright Returns to Corby Helm

Steelmen bring back former boss.

Southern League Division One Central club Corby Town have appointed Tommy Wright to begin his second spell as manager at Steel Park.

Wright`s playing career started at Leicester City making his first-team debut in 2002 aged 17.

Playing spells followed with Brentford, Blackpool, Barnsley, Walsall and Darlington until being sold to Aberdeen.

He helped Darlington lift the FA Trophy in 2011 and moved into management at Corby as joint-manager alongside Andrew Wilson in September 2013.

He took sole charge for at the back end of the 2013/14 season before leading Corby to a memorable Southern Premier Division title success in his first full campaign at the helm.

However, their stay in the Vanarama National League North lasted just one season as Corby were relegated and Wright left the club 12 games into the following campaign.

Since then, he has had spells at the likes of Nuneaton Borough, Darlington and Stratford Town, who he joined in June 2019 and left the following October.

But now he is back at Steel Park on a two-year deal with an option for a third and has been given a clear remit to try to deliver promotion back into Step 3.
