Blow For Merthyr Town

Long-serving striker leaves.

Southern League Premier Division South club Merthyr Town have suffered a blow with the news that long-serving striker Ian Traylor has left the Met Coaches Community Stadium.

The 31-year-old has agreed to join JD Cymru Premier side Penybont FC for 2020/21.

Traylor, who scored 11 goals in 35 games before lockdown in 2019/20, joined the Martyrs from Welsh League side Cwmaman in 2011.

Previously with Hirwaun and Pontypridd Town, he scored his 100th goal for Merthyr in 2016/17 season against Biggleswade Town and leaves with almost 200 to his name.

Merthyr manager Gavin Williams told https://www.merthyrtownfc.co.uk: “I’m absolutely gutted to lose a player of his quality. He is a natural goal scorer and a fantastic player. He will go down as one of the best players in the club`s history and I would like to thank him for everything he has done for the football club”.
