Carter Makes Backroom Changes

New number two and head coach for Moneyfields.

Southern League Division One South club Moneyfields has announced that Gavin Spurway has stepped up to become assistant manager after Mat Jones left a few weeks ago.

Spurway was Moneys first-team head coach last season.

Brett Poate replaced Spurway as the senior side`s head coach.

Poate played around 25 games for Moneys last season at centre-half and has a wealth of non-League experience with the likes of Havant & Waterlooville and Gosport Borough and was originally a professional at Southampton.

Manager Dave Carter is looking forward to working with them both, stating that things got a bit stale last season and momentum was lost and changes needed to be made.

Carter said: “Mat Jones is a great bloke and I thank him for all his help over the last few seasons but I needed more to be brought to the table, and with our football club changing. We are also looking to bring younger players, so I felt the need to make changes to my staff.

“I have waited a few weeks before making my decisions but now I feel Gavin and Brett are the right people to help me take this club forward.

“We all met on Monday and put a plan in place and targeted players for the 2020/21 season. Now we will work hard and get the lads back in and ready to go”.
