Former Villa Starlet Joins Rushall Olympic

Pics bring in ex-Villa defender.

Southern League Premier Division Central club Rushall Olympic have snapped up former Aston Villa starlet Riccardo Calder.

The 24-year-old defender moved to the Pics` league rivals Nuneaton Borough in January 2020.

He joined Boro from Vanarama National League North side AFC Telford United, who he had signed for from rivals Bradford Park Avenue in October 2019, having only joined the latter in late August.

He was originally part of the Aston Villa under-19 team which won the 2012/13 NextGen Series, beating Chelsea in the final of the competition.

Whilst on Villa`s books he had loan spells with Dundee, Doncaster Rovers where, in two spells, he made 23 appearances, and Lincoln City.

Upon his release from Villa Park, the four-times capped England under-17 international joined Scottish Championship side Inverness Caledonian Thistle, for whom he played 32 times, scoring one goal before being released in May 2018.
