Two Added to Stourbridge Group

A couple of new Glassboys.

Southern League Premier Division Central club Stourbridge have signed two new players in Alex Fletcher and Martin Riley.

Fletcher joins the Glassboys from JD Cymru Premier side Newtown AFC.

The 23-year-old started his career with Shrewsbury Town but was released without making the senior side.

He joined Vanarama National League North side AFC Telford United and then had a brief spell north of the border with Ross County before joining Newtown for the first time from Stourbridge`s neighbours Tividale in July 2016.

He scored 4 times in 30 appearances before swapping Mid-Wales for Southport in July 2017.

In October 2017 he signed for Stafford Rangers before re-joining the Robins in January 2018.

Riley is an experienced defender who joins Stourbridge from National League North outfit Hereford FC.

The 33-year-old joined Hereford in May 2019 league rivals Alfreton Town.

He had signed for the Reds from FC Halifax Town in July 2018.

A well-travelled player, he joined Halifax from Wrexham in May 2017 and was the Shaymen’s first signing after winning promotion to the National League.

He came through the youth ranks at Wolverhampton Wanderers and then left for Shrewsbury Town where he failed to make a first-team appearance.

A move to Kidderminster Harriers followed in 2008 and after two years at Aggborough he joined Cheltenham Town in 2010.

He moved to Mansfield Town in 2011, making 33 appearances before joining Wrexham in 2012, winning the FA Trophy in the 2012/13 season.

A return to the Stags then came in 2013, before a move to Tranmere Rovers and a second spell at Wrexham in May 2016 followed, before signing for Halifax.
