Daventry Strengthen Squad Ahead of Big Kick-Off

Several new arrivals at Communications Park.

Arron Parkinson, manager of Pitching In Southern League Division One Central club Daventry Town, has added a number of new players to his squad before Saturday`s opening league game of the season.

Parkinson has brought in Ben Stokes. However, before Daventry fans think they have signed the England cricket all-rounder star, this one is a midfielder who was last with Southern Premier Division Central side Redditch United!

The 22-year-old joined Redditch in early January 2020 from Daventry`s league rivals St Neots Town, where he had been since October 2019.

He started out in Tamworth`s youth system before joining Southern Premier Division Central side Coalville Town halfway through the 2017/18 season initially with the development squad.

He went on to make a handful of starts for the first team during the last few games before moving to Northern Premier League Division One South East side Carlton Town in October 2018 in search of more regular senior football.

Emmanuel Gbejuade is a 21-year-old midfielder who joins from Daventry`s league rivals Biggleswade FC.

He was previously with Uhlsport United Counties League Premier Division side Cogenhoe United.

Jeff Woodward is a 27-year-old defender who moves to Communications Park from Leicestershire Senior League side Rugby Borough.

He had re-joined Borough from Southern Premier Division Central outfit St Ives Town in November 2019 following a previous successful stint with the club at the end of the 2018/19 season in which he helped them to win the league title and the Coventry Charity Cup.

A solid and resolute defender, he also possesses the ability to play out of the back and has had spells with Biggleswade Town, Coventry United, Rugby Town and was originally attached to the Gordan Strachan Academy.

Defender or midfielder Joe Coleman returns to Daventry for a second spell via league rivals Kidlington.

The 29-year-old is a former Northampton Town junior who played in the Uhlsport Hellenic League for Hook Norton as well as the Banbury United youth side progressing to make his first-team debut for the Southern Premier Division Central outfit in April 2009.

He established himself as a regular in the Banbury first team in season 2009/10 and went on to make 153 appearances for the club, scoring 9 goals prior to leaving in the summer of 2012 for Ardley United.

Had a spell with Daventry at the start of season 2013/14 but injury just a few weeks into the season kept him out of the game for the rest of the season.

He had a short spell with Hook Norton before returning to Banbury prior to the start of the 2017/18 season, moving on to Kidlington.

Young defender Joel Nkieta joins from Spartan South Midlands League Premier Division outfit Harpenden Town, where he spent the majority of the 2019/20 season.

The 19-year-old started out with Vanarama National League South side Hemel Hempstead Town.

Also penning forms for Daventry is 20-year-old midfielder Joe Massaro.

The Kettering-born player was on the books at the National League North outfit through from under-16 to senior level.

He made a handful of appearances for the Poppies, mainly in cup competitions, and also spent time on loan with Daventry`s league rivals
St Neots Town in 2019/20.
