Pitching In Southern Football League Premier Division Central club Stratford Town have added Rhys Sharpe and Will Dawes to their squad in time for both to feature in today’s squad to play Hitchin Town.
Defender Sharpe, who turned 26 today, is a former Northern Ireland under-21 international who has had spells with Derby County, Notts County and Swindon Town.
He featured in pre-season for Tamworth in 2017/18 but picked up an injury and signed for Matlock Town.
He did eventually sign for Tamworth in February 2018 and then moved to league rivals Nuneaton Borough in January 2019.
Dawes is a 20-year-old midfielder who signed for Stratford`s league rivals Coalville Town in June.
He was signed on a two-year scholarship by League Two side Cheltenham Town after starting out in non-League football with Hellenic League Premier Division outfit Tuffley Rovers.
He then moved up to Loughborough University last year to study maths and played for their side in the United Counties League Premier Division as a stand-out performer during 2019/20, scoring 12 goals in 32 games.
