Coleshill Earn Third League Win

Colemen follow up shock Trophy success by beating Wantage.

Coleshill Town followed up their Buildbase FA Trophy `giantkilling` of the weekend by earning a third league win of the campaign to date in the Pitching In Southern Football League Division One Central on Monday night.

The Colemen, who beat Premier Division Central side Bromsgrove Sporting to earn a home tie against either Coalville Town or Matlock Town in the First Round, beat Wantage Town 3-0 at Pack Meadow.

In front of a crowd of 247, it was goalless at the break. However, just 2 minutes after the restart, Coleshill broke the deadlock when a Kai Tonge cross was parried out by Alfredians` keeper Tom Middlehurst only for Josh Willis to fire home the loose ball.

The hosts came close to doubling their lead when a Max Brogan effort was cleared off the line, but they did manage to add a second goal 11 minutes from time when sub James Harrison got on the end of a half-cleared cross to beat Middlehurst.

Wantage almost claimed a consolation near the end but Tom Ballard`s effort was well saved by home `keeper Paul Hathaway.
