Pitching In Southern Football League Premier Division South club Wimborne Town have signed midfielder Josh Hanratty from Sydenhams Football League (Wessex) Premier side AFC Portchester
A member of the famed Southampton academy, Hanratty was released in 2012 and joined Wessex Premier side Christchurch.
He attracted attention as a 16-year-old with his performances for Christchurch, with Aston Villa and AFC Bournemouth both linked with him.
He eventually moved to then-Wessex League rivals Blackfield & Langley and was named as young player of the year in 2015.
Hanratty then went over to the United States and began his collegiate playing career at University North Carolina at Pembroke where he played from 2015/16 before joining Longwood University as a junior beginning in 2017.
Hanratty went on to captain the Longwood Lancers and become an All-Big South Conference team of the year selection in 2018.
After graduating with a bachelor's degree in Communication Studies, Josh Hanratty transitioned into the assistant coaching role at Longwood University who compete in the Big South Conference.
He re-joined Blackfield & Langley, who at the time were members of the Southern Premier Division South, upon returning to England in the summer of 2019 and then switched to AFC Portchester in March 2020, just ahead of the initial lockdown.
