Brett Poate has joined manager Dave Carter and assistant Gavin Spurway in leaving Pitching In Southern Football League Division One South club Moneyfields to become player-coach at Sydenhams Football League (Wessex) Premier side AFC Portchester.
The 37-year-old vastly experienced defender was appointed player-coach at Moneyfields in June 2020.
The former Havant & Waterlooville and Gosport Borough man had been at Moneys since January 2017, signing after his six-year stay at Gosport had come to an end.
He had previously played for Hawks between 2003 and 2009 before moving to Eastleigh for two seasons.
The one-time Southampton youngster played 14 times that season as Moneys went on to win promotion from the Wessex League, and he remained a regular in the club’s three seasons of Step 4 football ever since.
