Paul Agbeseyi
Busy Shaun Gale, manager of Pitching In Southern Football League Premier Division South club Gosport Borough, has announced the signing of Paul Agbeseyi and has seen seven more players commit for the 2021/22 season.
Agbeseyi previously played for Vanarama National League side Bromley`s under-23s with the midfielder making 11 appearances with 9 starts.
He was part of a team that was top of the Suburban League Premier Division with 14 points after 7 games.
The 19-year-old was one of the triallists that took part in the game against Baffins Rovers at Privett Park recently and Gale said he was impressed by Agbeseyi performance during the friendly.
He told his club`s website: “Paul played in the trial game a couple of weeks back and he did very well. He was the under-18 captain of Bromley last season and has been training with the first team this season at 19. He’s a big strong 6`2” midfielder, who is one for the future.”
Meanwhile, Mike Carter, Ryan Woodford, Pat Suraci, Joe Lea, Matt Casey, Brad Tarbuck and Owen Roundell will all be remaining at the club for the 2021/22 season.
Carter is an influential midfielder who returned to Gosport in May 2019 from Havant & Waterlooville, having been on loan to Boro for the latter part of the 2018/19 season.
He joined Havant in January 2017 following a two-and-a-half-year spell at Gosport and became an instant fans favourite as he helped the Hawks lift the Isthmian League title in 2017.
Before his spell at Gosport, he enjoyed success across the coast in Southampton with spells at Hamble Club and Sholing with him lifting the FA Vase at Wembley with the latter back in 2014.
Woodford is an experienced defender who re-joined Boro in May 2019, also from Havant.
He enjoyed two spells with the Hawks and amassed in excess of 200 appearances during that time.
After leaving the Portsmouth academy he was quickly snapped up by then-Havant manager Shaun Gale in 2009 and enjoyed a rollercoaster ride during his first spell at the club.
He saw two First Round FA Cup appearances, dicing with relegation and then helped the club into the Conference South play-offs, dramatic FA Trophy runs, including a semi-final back in 2014.
He left the club in 2015 to join Gosport but returned a season later and enjoyed the most success laden spell of his career.
He helped the Hawks to the Isthmian Premier crown in 2017 before a year later helping the club to success in winning the National League South.
Pat Suraci
Striker Suraci re-signed for Gosport in the summer of 2020.
He had been on dual registration with then-Southern Premier Division South side Blackfield & Langley and Weymouth.
He joined the Terras in December 2019, scoring on his debut, before making the move to the Watersiders a week later for more regular football.
Originally with Premier League Southampton, he first joined Gosport in 2016 and then had a spell with Belgian second-tier outfit Lommel United before returning to England to play for Bognor Regis Town in 2018.
He had a spell on loan at Weymouth before returning to Gosport where, in 2018/19, he scored 12 goals. However, towards the end of November, he decided to leave Boro and was given a chance by the Terras.
Defender Lea, 23, is another to have returned to Gosport but this time in a dual role.
Having come through the academy with Premier League Southampton, Lea played at Yeovil Town in the EFL.
After a short spell with Isthmian Premier outfit Bognor Regis Town, he arrived at Privett Park in 2017 and soon established himself as a fans’ favourite.
He left Boro in November 2019 to sign for Blackfield & Langley but returned to Boro in a player and coaching role.
Centre-back Casey had previously played for the club during the 2018/19 season and returned at the start of last pre-season after spells at both Havant & Waterlooville and Bognor Regis Town.
Tarbuck joined Boro at the start of the 2019/20 season from Havant & Waterlooville, where he had been for the previous three years.
His brief time at the club has already impressed many Boro fans, with his trickery and ability to cut in from the right terrifying defences.
His most significant moment in a Boro shirt was his stunning goal during Gosport’s 4-0 victory at home against Farnborough.
Roundell is a player that many Gosport supporters are yet to see and the midfielder joined from Sholing in October 2020 and made 2 appearances before the end of the season, playing in the defeats against Poole Town and in the Buildbase FA Trophy against Dorchester Town.
