Pitching In Southern Football League Premier Division Central club Banbury United have announced that five more players have agreed to sign for the 2021/22 season.

Charlie Hawtin, Sam Brown, Jack Westbrook, Jack Finch and Amer Awadh join Kelvin Langmead, Connor Roberts, Giorgio Rasulo, Henry Landers and Jack Harding, who all signed contracts earlier this month, in remaining with Andy Whing`s side.

Confirmed as leaving the Puritans will be Ricky Johnson, Pablo Haysham, Alex Henshall, Jaanai Gordon and as previously announced, player-coach James Constable.

Johnson has been club captain and has made a total of 278 appearances and scored 97 goals across three spells at the club since 2005, including the last six seasons from the club’s promotion winning campaign of 2015/16.

In that season he scored 26 Southern League South & West goals in 41 games.

His goal tally sees him in fifth place in Banbury’s all-time goalscorers' list, behind only Tony Jacques, Jody McKay, Tony Foster and Matty Gooderick.

Johnson`s last goal of those 97 came against Canvey Island in November last year, in United’s first Emirates FA Cup First Round Proper game for 47 years.

Chairman Phil Lines said: “Ricky has been a great leader for the club scoring key goals and also when the backs were against the wall putting his body on the line. He will go down in time as one of the club legends. Everyone at the club wishes him the best for the future”.
