Two More Agree Tiverton Deals

Yellows get two more of last season`s squad to commit to new campaign.

Pitching In Southern Football League Premier Division South club Tiverton Town have announced that two more of last season`s squad have agreed to remain at Ladysmead for 2021/22.

Andy Watkins and Jordan Lam have both agreed to stay with the Yellows.

Cornwall-born Watkins, 36, began his career with Bideford AFC before joining Truro City in July 2006.

During his first season at Treyew Road the club lifted the Toolstation Western League Division One title and won the FA Vase beating AFC Totton 3–1 in the final, held at the new Wembley Stadium.

This began five years of almost uninterrupted success for the club, climbing up through the leagues to the Conference South, with Watkins` goals playing a major part in this rise.

Even when it all began to unravel for the White Tigers, he remained loyal to the club, playing just a single game for Bideford when it looked like Truro had gone out of business, and he was named player of the year.

In total he scored 143 goals in 295 games for Truro.

Bath City had made an offer for his services in January 2013 and, following Truro’s relegation in April, he signed for the National League South club in June 2013.

And after seven seasons at Twerton Park he passed the 200 appearance and 50 goal milestones for the Romans before signing for Tivvy in the summer of 2020.

Lam, 26, is an attacking midfielder who signed for Tiverton in September 2020 from JD Cymru Premier side Cardiff Metropolitan University.

Originally from Devon, he started out with Western League Premier Division side Buckland Athletic before joining Cardiff Met for the first time in the summer of 2013.

He was then signed by Hereford FC in August 2018 but switched to Southern Division One South outfit Bristol Manor Farm a few months later after a change of management at the Bulls.

He returned to Cyncoed Campus for a second time in the summer of 2019.
