Pitching In Southern Football League Division One Central club North Leigh have signed midfielder Jordan Alves and revealed ten of the players who have re-signed from last season`s squad.

Alves, 21, signed for Thatcham Town in September 2020 from then-Southern Division One South rivals Basingstoke Town, who he joined in December 2019.

He previously spent six years with Championship side Reading after being a graduate from the John Madejski Academy football performance programme based in the town but joined Basingstoke from Southern Premier Division South neighbours Hartley Wintney.

Naturally a winger, he has great pace and is great in one-v-one situations.

North Leigh`s director of football Craig Dore told his club`s website: “I’ve known of Jordan for a couple of years now and he’s a player I’ve wanted to bring to the club. Manager Eddie Odhiambo and I are really pleased he has committed to the club and see him as being a key part of the First Team this season. We look forward to working with him!”

Meanwhile, committing to the Millers for 2021/22 are Luke Carnell, John Mills, Ben Brown, Callum McNish, George Nash, Harry Grant, Lance Williams, Morgan Williams, Scott Isherwood and Aaron Heap.

Experienced centre-back Carnell joined North Leigh last summer from rivals Didcot Town.

He has vast non-League experience having also had spells with the likes of Banbury United, Woodford United and Abingdon United.

Mills is a prolific marksman who initially re-joined the Millers in August 2020.

He became something of a legend at Hereford FC, scoring 140 goals and helping the Bulls to three successive promotions and an FA Vase Final appearance at Wembley.

Brown is a centre-back who found playing opportunities curtailed due to injury last season.

Another in his second spell with the club, he returned after spells with Kidlington, Cirencester Town and Hayes & Yeading United.

McNish, the creative hub of the midfield, also returned to the club for a second time in July 2019 from Didcot Town, while Nash will once again be the pivotal link between the front and back lines after he also came from Didcot this time last year,

Since joining from Reading City a couple of season ago, Grant has become an integral part of the first team and a firm fans favourite.

Lance Williams will continue to be a menace to all opposition defences this season having been another to re-join from Didcot last year.

A Millers legend, Morgan Williams has the ability to be a match-winner from out of nowhere.

He is yet another ex-Railwayman who is in his second stint at Eynsham Park.

Isherwood is a wing-back who returned to North Leigh last summer, having previously been on loan from Bristol Rovers.

Heap has signed again for the Millers, although he didn’t play last season after signing in December, with the season bring cut short after that.

He joined from Banbury United.
