Pitching In Southern Football League Premier Division South club Merthyr Town have announced the signing of Kerry Morgan and Connor Davies.

Davies arrives from JD Cymru Premier side Penybont FC, whilst Morgan re-joins the Martyrs after a long spell on the sidelines after recovering from an ACL injury.

Davies began his career with Championship side Cardiff City, starting out in the under-14s and the progressing through the ranks.

He started playing for their under-18 side while still an under-16 player in 2016/17, before starting a two-year scholarship in the summer of 2017, consistently performing for the Bluebirds under-18 team as well as helping them to the PDL2 South 2018/2019 title.

In the summer of 2019, Davies signed his first professional contract and had spent the 2019/2020 pre-season with the first team.

Since then, Davies has spent loan spells with the Martyrs` league rivals Weston-super-Mare and Cymru Premier side Penybont.

The 19-year-old attacking full-back made 24 appearances last season for the Bridgend outfit, featuring in the club’s top six European push.

Meanwhile, Morgan’s commitment to the club over the years ensured he quickly became a fan's favourite during his six-year spell with his home-town club.

The former Swansea City graduate helped Merthyr win the Southern Division One South & West title in 2015 before spells at Neath, Bath City, Port Talbot Town, Mangotsfield United and Cirencester Town.

Now, the 32-year-old returns for another campaign ready to bolster manager Dean Clarke's options ahead of the 2021/22 season.

Clarke told his club`s website: “It was never in doubt to welcome back Kerry back to the squad this season. The ability and experience he brings is huge and the only thing we had to do was assess him after his long injury. It's been a frustrating year for himself not being able to return to full fitness, but his resilience and strength has been a key factor in him returning to competitive action earlier than expected.

"He knows his next steps to better his fitness, so hopefully he can be fully fit come the start of the season and hopefully he can show us all what he’s capable of once again.

“Connor on the other hand is an exceptional signing for us. He is an exciting talent with real ability, which will go a long way for us this season. He has shown his qualities already in pre-season and we've been blown away by what we've seen so far.

"He will be a great addition to the squad and a key player for us going forward".
