Saturday`s Pre-Season Friendly Round-Up

Premier Division Central

An excellent crowd of 909 were at the Plant Hire Community Stadium to see Banbury United inflict a 5-2 defeat on Northern Premier League Premier Division side FC United of Manchester.

After falling a goal behind in the 15th minute, the Puritans equalised 6 minutes later through Chris Wreh.

And on 38 minutes, Morgan Roberts pounced on a keeper mistake to make it 2-1 to the home side.

Banbury increased their lead 11 minutes after the break with a second for Wreh and then FC United pulled one back from the penalty spot on 65 minutes.

Ben Acquaye made it 4-2 on 72 minutes and the nap hand arrived 11 minutes from time as Wreh completed his hat-trick in a game that was a great advert for the two fan-owned clubs.

Barwell shared a 1-1 draw at Northern Premier League Division One Midlands new boys Coleshill Town, although the Colemen did miss a second half penalty with the scores level.

Hitchin Town suffered a 2-0 defeat at Division One Central hosts Barton Rovers at Sharpenhoe Road.

Goals inside the opening 12 minutes from Chris Regis and Chaz Smith proved enough for Rovers.

Bromsgrove Sporting also failed to beat lower league opposition as they shared a 2-2 draw with United Counties League Premier Division South newcomers Coventry United at the Victoria Ground.

Jourdain Masidi and Nehemia Zazi were the Rouslers` scorers.

Nuneaton Borough made the long journey to Newquay AFC from the South West Peninsula League and triumphed 4-1.

An early 6th minute opener from Ravi Shamsi from the spot was added to near the end of the half by Harry Wakefield.

Wakefield added his second and Boro`s third in the 50th minute and after the Peppermints reduced the deficit from the spot on 65 minutes, Shamsi grabbed his second 2 minutes from time to make it 4-1.

There were no goals at Keys Park between Hednesford Town and National League North side Leamington, but Peterborough Sports hit TEN!

The Turbines turned up the heat on late friendly hosts Biggleswade United, who have lost a lot of senior players since being switched to the United Counties League Premier Division South by the FA this summer.

Mark Jones hit four, Pierre Ange-Omombe netted a hat-trick, with Jake Battersby, Lewis Webb and Josh McCammon adding the others.

St Ives Town shared four at the Premier Plus Stadium against Division One Central neighbours St Neots Town.

Arel Amu and Joe Rider for the home Saints and new signings Ben Toseland and Michael Richens for the away Saints.

Tamworth were beaten 5-0 at The Lamb by National League side Wrexham, for whom Dior Angus netted a hat-trick with Liam McAlinden and a Henri Wilder own goal accounting for the others.

An early 2nd minute Jay Clement effort and a second half header from Brad Mansell eventually earned Rushall Olympic a 2-1 win at Midland League Premier Division Boldmere St Michaels.

A penalty from Ken Charles for Isthmian League Premier Division visitors Cheshunt was all that separated them from Royston Town at Garden Walk.

Needham Market were on the wrong end of a 5-0 defeat at National League South side Billericay Town.

First half goals from Junior Morias and Gold Omotayo earned National League North side King`s Lynn Town a 2-0 win at the Arden Garages Stadium against Stratford Town.


Premier Division South

Weston-super-Mare were a little too strong for the young under-23 side from Championship side Swansea City.

Goals from Jason Pope, Sam Avery and Ben Whitehead saw the Seagulls home.

Yate Town earned a very creditable 1-1 draw at Cymru Premier side Barry Town United.

Dave Sims-Burgess scored a first half goal for the Bluebells, whose keeper Andy Hannah also saved a spot-kick in the opening period.

Swindon Supermarine were on the wrong end of a 1-0 defeat to Division One South neighbours Highworth Town at the Save On Tyres Stadium.

A 71st minute Mani Roper goal proved to be the winner for the Worthians.

Merthyr Town were beaten 3-1 at home by Premier Division Central side Redditch United.

Ian Traylor scored the Martyrs consolation, but Dan Sweeney, Kieran Day and Tiago Tiago Nassunculo won it for the Reds.

A goal in each from two triallists gave Chesham United a 2-0 win at Isthmian Premier Division Wingate & Finchley.

Gosport Borough were beaten 3-1 by National League South neighbours Havant & Waterlooville at the Draper Tools Community Stadium.

Dan Wooden cancelled out a 27th minute Hawks opener from James Roberts just 4 minutes later.

But Sam Magri and Tommy Wright added two more in the first half to make it 3-1, which is how it ended.

Wimborne Town won 4-2 at home against Hellenic League Premier Division side Cribbs.

Aiden Shepherd bagged a brace for the Magpies, with Conal Morrison and Regan Mason the other scorers.

Metropolitan Police were beaten 2-1 at The Camping World Community Stadium by Isthmian Premier Horsham.

Charlie Harris gave the Hornets a 57th minute lead that the Met`s George Frith levelled after 78 minutes.

But Chris Smith won it for the hosts 3 minutes from time.

Tiverton Town and Division One South newcomers Plymouth Parkway produced an entertaining game at The Ian Moorcroft Stadium, Ladysmead.

It finished 5-3 to the home side

Louis Morrison, Matt Wright, Ed Butcher, Isaac McCue and an Aaron Bentley own goal accounted for Tivvy`s goals, with Jack Crago, a River Allen spot-kick and Bentley at the right end for Parkway.

Farnborough and National League Maidenhead United shared a 1-1 draw at the Easy As HGV Stadium.

Josh Kelly pulled the Magpies level after Nic Ciardini had given Boro the lead.

Hartley Wintney drew 2-2 at now-Isthmian League South Central outfit Thatcham Town.

Poole Town were given a surprise at home by an impressive Division One South Cirencester Town side, who triumphed 4-1.

After a 15-minute delay to kick-off due to traffic issues, Tony Lee gave the Dolphins the lead but the visitors ran out comfortable winners.

Kings Langley were beaten 5-0 at home by National League side Boreham Wood.

David Stephens, Gus Mafuta, Tyrone Marsh, Jacob Mendy and Jamal Fyfield with the Wood goals.

Dorchester Town also conceded five at home against National League opponents in arch-rivals Weymouth, who ran out 5-2 winners.

Ashley Wells and Sam Bayston for the Magpies, with Brandon Goodship, Bradley Ash, Tom Bearwish and an Ahkeem Rose brace for the Terras.


Division One Central

Aylesbury United secured a 3-1 win at Spartan South Midlands League Premier Division Risborough Rangers.

Pierce McNamara, Jamie Jellis and Harry Jones were the Ducks on the mark.

Newcomers Colney Heath came back from a goal down to beat Risborough`s league rivals Oxhey Jets 3-1.

Jon Clements bagged a brace for the Magpies with Jack Woods adding the other.

Another of the new boys, Waltham Abbey, edged a late 2-1 home win over Isthmian League North Division side Coggeshall Town at Capershotts.

It was 1-1 at half-time and then a last-gasp Nathan Koranteng goal defeated the Seedgrowers.

And another club switched by the FA in the summer, Ware, beat Spartan South Midlands League Premier Division side Arlesey Town 3-0 at Wodson Park.

Robbie Buchanan and a Jason Hallett brace for the hosts.

While Ware`s former Isthmian League rivals Harlow Town, who have also been switched, were comprehensive 6-1 winners at the Arena against Isthmian North side Tilbury.

Alex Read and Junior Dadson both scored twice for the Hawks, with an own goal accounting for the other.

Thame United had a terrific 8-0 win against Spartan South Midlands League Premier Division Leighton Town.

Mark West`s side looked impressive, especially in the first half when they turned around 6-0 up and their goals came from Dan West with a hat-trick, Ryan Blake with two, Lynton Goss, Harry Scott and an own goal.

Bedford Town continued their impressive pre-season with a fine 4-1 win against National League South side St Albans City at the Eyrie.

A Craig Mackail-Smith brace and singles from Dan Walker and Rob Sinclair secured the Eagles victory.

Didcot Town won 2-1 at Spartan South Midlands League Premier Division new boys Ardley United.

Dave Barratt and Josh Hedges for the Railwaymen who trailed 1-0.

Welwyn Garden City were edged out by the odd goal in seven at home against an XI from League Two neighbours Stevenage.

Jack Vasey, Jordan Watson and Carl Mensah with the Citzens goals.


Division One South

Winchester City had a 1-0 win at Wessex League Bashley with a goal-bound Olly Balmer effort being deflected into his own net by a home defender.

Barnstaple Town enjoyed a 5-2 win at South West Peninsula League Premier Division East outfit Dartmouth.

JJ Evans with two, Yohan Rutty-Smith, Saddam Bello and an un-named triallist were the Barum scorers.

Melkham Town beat Western League Premier Division side Bradford Town 3-0 at the Oakfield Stadium.

Albie Hopkins, Sam Hendy and Jay Malshanskyj with the home goals.

AFC Totton went down to a 3-1 defeat at the Snows Stadium to National League neighbours Eastleigh.

Adam Tomasso netted the Stags consolation after a Ben House brace an one from a triallist had been on target for the Spitfires.

Bristol Manor Farm enjoyed a good 4-1 win on their trip to Cornwall to play South West Peninsula League Premier Division West side Bodmin Town.

Ben Bament bagged a brace for the Farm, with Lewis Leigh-Gilchrist and Owen Howe adding the others.
