End of an Era at Lowestoft

Stalwart midfielder leaves Crown Meadow.

It`s an end of an era at Crown Meadow as tough-tackling midfielder Andrew Fisk leaves Pitching In Southern Football League Premier Division Central club Lowestoft Town to join Isthmian League North Division side Dereham Town for an undisclosed fee.

The 33-year-old hasn`t featured this pre-season for the Trawlerboys due to a combination of awaiting a move, work commitments and his wife being at the late stage of pregnancy.

A product of the Norwich City academy, he earned a professional contract with the Canaries but was soon sent out on loan to King`s Lynn Town at Christmas in 2006, signing permanently for the Linnets later that season.

He moved to Lowestoft ahead of the 2009/10 campaign, and has gone on to make 432 appearances, scoring 12 goals.

Manager Jamie Godbold told his club`s website: "When Fisky called and said he felt that it was time to move on I was gutted. It's hard to imagine him playing for anyone else after all these years and I hoped he would be around to help us continue to push the team and club back to where he helped take it before.

“I've been fortunate enough to have played with him when he joined the club and now have been able to manage him and he is the type of player and person that makes both really easy. On the pitch you know he will be there backing you up and keeping you ticking over, in the dressing room he leads by example and ensures the standards are being set and met by everyone, he is a real winner! We all wish him all the very best with the new arrival and with his next chapter of an excellent football career."

Dereham manager Adam Gusterson commented: "It is another big signing for us. He has a great mentality which will be hugely beneficial to our group.

“He is a combative midfielder and the qualities he has, I feel, really compliment what is required to make a real impact in our league.

“I have no doubt the Dereham faithful will love watching Fisko in a Magpies shirt and his ability both in and out of possession will be integral to how we want to play this season".
