Hednesford Town made it two wins from their opening two games in the 2021/22 Pitching In Southern Football League Premier Division Central on Monday night when they beat Stourbridge 2-1 at the War Memorial Athletic Ground.
The Pitmen beat Needham Market last Saturday, whilst the Glassboys shared a 1-1 draw at Banbury United.
And it didn`t take long for the home side to score their first home goal of the new season when one of their summer signings, Jason Cowley, went through, rounded Hednesford `keeper Andy Wycherley and slotted home after just 4 minutes.
However, 14 minutes later, the visitors were awarded a penalty for handball which Courtney Richards duly converted to make it 1-1.
The second period was fairly even until the 67th minute when the Pitmen were given a second spot-kick for shirt pulling on George Cater and with Richards having been substituted a few minutes earlier, Andre Landell stepped up to beat Nathan Vaughan from 12 yards to score what proved to be the winner.
